Job Center Resource Rooms - computers, Internet access, office equipment, training materials, and our professional employment specialists are all ready and available to assist you with every aspect of your job search.
Employment Counseling and Assessment Services are available at the Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Kenai, Ketchikan and Mat-Su Employment Centers. Counseling is provided for a wide range of issues including assistance with work related choice, change, or adjustment; handling stress due to job loss and other life changes; awareness of employer expectations; work ethics; and job search skills training. Assessment services are available to assist with understanding potential barriers to employment; assessment of the applicant’s general abilities, vocational interests, transferable skills, and literacy skills in relation to the labor market.
Workshops, Seminars, and Classes - topics include: resume building, interviewing, office skills, job search training, ALEXsys (Alaska’s online job bank) usage, and more… ALL are FREE.
· Resume Writing - Learn how to create a professional and presentable resume that will catch an employer's attention. Find out what employers in your local job market are looking for, choose the best format for your work history, and customize your resume for specific work opportunities.
· Workplace Alaska (State) Jobs – learn how an applicant profile and cover letter for applying for positions with the State of Alaska.
· Interviewing Workshops - This workshop is designed to help you interview for a job with confidence. Find out what questions employers are asking, how to answer those questions, what questions you should ask the employer, and how to dress for different job interviews.
· Job Search – learn about all the available sources for finding jobs and how to effectively apply for positions.
